Аннотация. Стаття присвячена дослідженню впливу потреби співжиття на формування та функціонування системи суспільної моралі. Встановлено, що саме потреба співжиття була тим фактором, який стимулював виникнення базових моральних норм, які робили можливим спільне людське існування. Разом з тим, дана потреба не гарантувала автоматичного виконання даних норм, і тому сформувались механізми, які цьому сприяли – репутація та покарання тих, хто їх порушує.

Abstract. The influence of the need for coexistence on the formation and functioning of the system of social morality is investigated in the article. It is determined that the need for coexistence stimulated the emergence of basic moral norms which made common human existence possible. However, this need does not guarantee automatic adherence to the norms. Therefore the mechanisms, which contributed to this, have formed. They were reputation and punishment of those who broke the rules.
