implementation of duration in kernel and peripheral units of prosodic space

Статья акцентирует внимание на детальном описании акустических особенностей ядерных и периферийных единиц по ключевому параметру – длительности – в рамках теории просодемного пространства.

The article concentrates on describing in details acoustic features of kernel and peripheral units according to the key characteristic - duration - within the prosodic space theory.

Duration is comprehended as the length of time in which a word is pronounced. This characteristic is a sign of accentual structures’ opposition, but does not distinguish considerably the communicative types of sentences among each other. Influenced by this characteristic, the elements of the prosodic language level perform a centralized function and play the leading role in the organization of prosodic space integrity.

To avoid ambiguity we shall first define the main notions. Prosodic space is the level of units of language, which are realized in speech as the prosodic variants (words-phrases, rhythm sections). Its kernel is formed by the space of invariants, which includes one-word declarative and interrogative sentences. They create basic opposition. Peripheral position takes zone of prosodic variants, which are pronounced as interjections with positive or negative emotions. In the experiment a declarative sentence is a nominative one, interrogative sentence is a primary question.
