THE INFLUENCE OF VARIOUS ORGANIC FERTILIZERS ON BIOGENIC ELEMENTS IN GRAIN YIELD OF WINTER WHEAT GROWN IN ORGANIC AND SUSTAINABLE FARMING SYSTEMS

Abstract. Experiments were conducted in Joniškėlis Experimental Station of Lithuanian Institute of Agriculture in 2005–2009. The objective of this study was to estimate the effects in different organic and sustainable farming systems where the farmyard manure and aftermath of perennial grasses were used as fertilizers in soils with low (1.98–2.01 %) and medium (2.10–2.40 %) humus content on the winter wheat of grain yield. It was found that in the organic I farming system, within application of only aftermath of perennial grass for the green manure, yield of winter wheat was rather low, not typical for productive soils and was 3.0 t ha^-1 of DM. In organic II and sustainable I farming systems FYM application on a clay loam soil did not increase winter wheat yield significantly due to the slow mineralization of organic matter. The highest grain yield was produced in more intense sustainable II farming system, where the green manure was applied together with mineral fertilizers for wheat.
