BIONIC PRINCIPLES IN CONTEMPORARY DESIGN OF ART AND INDUSTRIAL OBJECTS

This paper shows the most useful bionic natural concepts, describes existing successful design projects managed according to bionic rules, and highlights the significance of natural optimization concerning contemporary design process and future design tendencies.

В данной статье рассматриваются основные бионические принципы и примеры существующих успешных проектов дизайна с применением законов бионики. Подчеркивается важность природной оптимизации касательно объектов современного дизайна, а так же предполагаются дальнейшие перспективы развития направления бионического дизайна.

Some objects of new contemporary design can be frequently characterized by inconvenience of forms, volumes or by redundancy of some decorative elements. Such design imperfection could appear, because of the principle, that object should attract as much attention of consumers as possible. Thus appears sometimes really unexpected and at the same time unreasonable object shapes, which can be also not convenient in use.
In fact ‘competent design’ contains first of all functionality, usability, simplicity of forms, lightness and optimized material consumption of designed object, then decorative part to complete the external spectacular view.
The purpose of the paper is to offer bionic principles as a groundwork for effective art and industrial design, to highlight those main natural concepts, and the significance of natural optimization concerning the process of design.
For a start the basic definitions are required. Bionics – is the art of copying nature. Nature in its turn is an ideal perfect mechanism which is globally optimal and self-sufficient, so we can be absolutely sure that the copying of those rules and principles will produce the most effective results of design, especially regarding durability of product, material and recourses saving. Bionics is a branch of science that systematically analyses the rules of design and growth in nature and how they can be applied to new technological developments. [1]
